Alpha & Omega Corn Maze

Autumn Corn Maze 2025

Alpha & Omega Corn Maze

We arrived prepared, flashlights in hand, ready for darkness to cloak the land.  Anticipation filled our souls, seeking fulfillment, but mostly the thrill of it all.  I’m talking about a corn maze!  Not just any maze, but a five-acre maze that weaves you through the corn stalks, hoping not to get lost.  Five of us, prepared, ready, and waiting.

Last Friday, a few of us neighbors visited the Alph & Omega Corn Maze in Hamptonville, NC.  Just a mere 45 minutes away, games, food, and fun awaited us.  This 20-acre agritourism complex features hayrides, horse-drawn wagon rides, and 30+ engaging activities.  And that doesn’t include the corn maze, the big draw!

Arriving hungry, we immediately sought the Barn Grill for some grub – ahem, I mean, food.  They host the usuals, including burgers, hot dogs, pizza, and other classic favorites.  Ron opted for the barbecue sandwich, a burger for me, Gloria had a hot dog, a burger for Cathy, and Barbara cut to the chase – with pecan pie and fresh-churned ice cream.  Replenishing our bodies for games, my friends, games!

With over 30 activities, we headed to the kids’ area where we girls took turns to slide down the long circular tubes.  I mean, we’re all seniors, but here, you can “play” right along with the kiddies and not feel any remorse.  Move over…

From there, Barbara and I decided to try the big tube roll, which involves getting inside and walking it down the lane.  We didn’t get far at all.  Nope!  The tube was starting to get away from us and pick up speed when Barbara fell, laughing.  If she hadn’t gone down first, it would have been me in a few more seconds!   We were both laughing like kids again over the antics.

All of us took turns being tortured – well, not really, but this made for a great photo op not to pass up!

And then of course, Barbara and I had to take a turn! Now that we are known as unruly, lawbreakers, and bad, I had to share the image on our Facebook page for the New Cline Village Homeowners’ group.

It’s only natural to ride in a horse-drawn wagon around the perimeter of the complex. Doesn’t everyone? Surprisingly, just the five of us were in the wagon. I guess the next group was too large to join us…

While it was turning into the most beautiful evening, Ron asked Barbara to take our picture against the pretty pink clouds that dotted the sky. Who knew it would turn into a glorious dusk when most of the day had been shrouded in cloudy skies.

The numerous games were all fun to try, some even challenging.  Once it was dark, we pulled out our flashlights and headed to the entrance of the corn maze with anticipation lighting our eyes, and hoping we didn’t get lost.  Would anyone come looking for us?  At least we had flashlights to beam up to the darkened sky.

After a few wrong turns, heading one way, back another, making rounds, we finally made our way out – though we exited the entrance, but hey, we did it.  And age really has nothing to do with it, or does it?

Back to the Barn Grill to grab some dessert after all the effort put into having fun, and we were ready to head home.  All in an Autumn’s evening, a must-do event.
