I love decorating for fall.  I believe it’s my favorite season.  Fall leaves, pumpkins, browns, rustic greens, oranges, and gold colors excite me.  I love almost everything about autumn, from the vegetables that make a comeback to the holidays that grace our home.

This year, I’m using décor I already have, except for the trio of ceramic pumpkins and a new pillow that I couldn’t resist!  It’s the year of fall leaves and pumpkins at our house.  And really, all it takes to create an autumn ambience is leaves.  Real or faux!  Tucking leaves into candle holders, around other decorations, topping artwork, or wrapping a garland of leaves around a banister – that’s all it takes.

Let’s start with the outside – far from what I’d like, but it’s a start for this year.  As you approach the front door, I have a pinecone wreath I purchased at Kohl’s last year.  It wasn’t quite fall-ish enough for me, so I ended up adding fall leaves to the wreath.

The doormat is new – recently purchased in Mayberry at a country store.  It features interchangeable centers to match the season or holiday.  I got one for fall, another for Halloween, and one for Christmas.  I absolutely love this concept.  You can find these mats online, here

Welcome!  I have so many photos to share, so I’m cutting the fall tour into two parts.

Welcome!
Welcome!

The entry is difficult to get a good picture of because it’s long and narrow, but it’s one of the things I like most about our floor plan.  The long, narrow runner is one we purchased from Wayfair, not long after moving in.

As soon as you walk in the door, I’ve placed a nice cushioned bench (that doubles as extra seating in the dining room) near the entrance.  I got the bench from Wayfair, and it matches our dining room chairs exceptionally well.  You can find the metal stay-awhile sign on Amazon. I do not receive any compensation should you purchase any of the items from Wayfair, Kirkland’s, Etsy, or Hobby Lobby.

On top of the bench, I placed a lantern with a grouping of leaves on the top and inside the case.  It looks so cute angled on the bench with the fall foliage.  I draped a soft white throw over the opposite side and placed a pillow I purchased from Hobby Lobby.  You can find similar pillows here

Further into the entry, I placed a console that has a fun story behind it.  On top of the console, I have a vase with fall leaves and a cute plaque.

When we moved from Temecula, our neighbors up the street were also moving.  We had at least three yard sales spread out over the month. On the last day, Alisha liked our antique white dresser, and I wanted her console.  We exchanged pieces, much to our men’s dismay.

I might add that sweet silverish container on the table is home to Ramsey. He loved greeting visitors, and he can still do that. I miss him so much!

The plaque was given to me by my sweet friend, Vicki Mashburn – I will never part with it!

On the lower shelf are faux mums I’ve had FOREVER, it seems.  Seriously, I can’t recall when I bought them, but suffice it to say, they’re old and need to be replaced!

On the opposite side of the entryway, I placed another lantern that we purchased in Temecula from Hobby Lobby.  Again, I placed fall leaves on top and inside the case.  The lantern sits on the floor, and at night, both lanterns light the way down our hall.

My office
My office

When you first walk in the door, my office is located across from the entry bench.  Since it’s one of the first rooms seen, I always decorate it according to the season or holiday.  On the desk are the paper trio pumpkins I purchased from Amazon.  I just love them!

The crochet fall tissue cover can be found here on Ravelry, where I sell the pattern.

On the hutch behind my desk, I’ve placed a trio of Indian corn with a couple of miniature pumpkins.  On the windowsill, I placed a garland of fall leaves that says to me, “Hello fall!”

Part two of the fall home tour will be next week.
