Grilled Jalapeno Peach Chicken

Last week, the Grilled Jalapeno Peach Chicken recipe from How Sweet Eats was so good! I love a good grilled chicken recipe with a fruit salsa!

You might have noticed that I changed the blog name. While I still own the CrochetMemories.com domain, crochet no longer represents what the blog is about. I came up with My Quintessential Life but discovered the name is already in use, so to avoid any problems in the future, I changed the name again. After mulling it over, I finally came up with Hearth and Quill. It represents home and writing—my passions in life.

As life gets busier, things go awry.  Such was the case with the name change.  I came up with Quill and Hearth, changed the words around, and we agreed that the name flowed better with Hearth and Quill.  When I bought the domain, I switched the words and purchased Quill and Hearth.  Yikes!  We corrected that mistake, which threw a monkey wrench into the plans, and it took way too long to get it all straightened out, and as I type, I’m still waiting, and waiting!  Slapping my head!

I have several sloppy joe recipes, but this one is the best from CuteFetti.  It reminds me of sloppy joes from the past when you bite into those sloppy but oh-so-good sandwiches with the sweet and spicy sauce that makes my mouth water just thinking about it – yep, it’s that good!  We used to like to add cheese to ours and put it in the broiler for a few minutes to melt and blister the cheese.

North Carolina is experiencing wind, rain, and thunderstorms. It’s a dreary day, and I decided to have Cauliflower Soup tonight.  Soup is a comforting meal, especially on a rainy day.  From Country Living, cauliflower, potatoes, onions, vegetable broth, and seasoning come together in a comfort meal that’s sure to please.  Once the veggies are cooked, cream is added for a smoother, thicker soup served with brown butter croutons – no need for rolls here!

Pizza—it’s America’s favorite! But this is not your typical pizza. I’m talking sweet potato slices cut razor thin, sweet apple almost shaved, cooked and crumbled bacon, and goat cheese.  Mozzarella, plenty of garlic, and sage leaves complete a delectable pizza you can’t wait to sink your teeth into!  From Camille Styles, it’s a showstopping pizza you’ll want to serve at your next gathering!

I love a take on tacos!  Growing up, I ate ground beef tacos with shredded lettuce, tomato, cheese, and store-bought taco sauce.   Tacos have grown up!  From Skinny Taste, these tacos are on a level all their own.  Pickled onions, peach salsa, and seasoned shrimp-filled corn tortillas for a hearty and tasty meal the entire family will love!   In a word, yum!

Salmon is always welcome on the menu.  While the Cajun-seasoned salmon is cooking, a sauce with butter, lemon, soy, honey, and garlic is combined and simmered to drizzle over the spicy goodness of the tender salmon fillets as they finish cooking.  My taste buds are bursting!  Thank you, Jo, from Jo Cooks

Have you ever cooked poultry rotisserie-style? I found this recipe from Dad Cooks Dinner, and the name alone was enough to catch my attention. Better yet, we have a game hen in the freezer. First, the hens are brined to ensure moistness and tenderness.  The herb rub couldn’t be fresher, with fresh oregano, thyme, rosemary, and sage. It reminds me of a song. How about you?

Today is Father’s Day – Happy Father’s Day to all the dads!  At our house, we’re planning to cook steak.  I’m talking fancy!  From Carlsbad Cravings, Jennifer uses lots of herbs and spices to get the best flavor from any meat, and this steak will not disappoint.  Seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper for the most flavor possible.  Partially cooked bacon is wrapped around the filets for added moisture and flavor before searing the steaks over high heat.  Next, you add butter, smashed garlic, and fresh rosemary – should I go on?  If that wasn’t enough to transcend these steaks from run-of-the-mill to fab, how about serving them with balsamic chive cream sauce?

This past weekend, I finally got around to cleaning and organizing the pantry again.  For the most part, I keep it organized, but with Christmas and all the extras, it got pretty messy.  Last month, I ordered food labels from Amazon for the foods I store in containers.  I’m happy with the results, and those…
