Air-Fried Asian Wonton Purses Recipe

These little Asian purses are filled with crisp bacon, shredded vegetables, and seasoned with ginger, soy sauce, garlic, and more, making the most delicious appetizers. They’re crispy on the outside with an Asian-inspired filling inside.
They’re perfect as a side dish for any Asian meal, from a stir-fry to pokes. Or serve them as appetizers, but no matter what, be sure to dunk them in a sweet-n-sour sauce or habanero-flavored peach jelly, warmed to thin out. So good!

These wonton purses are super easy to make, too! And they fry up in 6 minutes in the air fryer. They’re flavorful and satisfying. This is a fun recipe to add to your next Asian-influenced meal!

After combining the filling ingredients, place a teaspoonful in the middle of the wrapper.

Pinch two opposing corners together, and repeat for the remaining two corners, creating little purses.

Place them into the air fryer as they’re made, spray with vegetable spray, and cook! They come out in 6 minutes, crispy and so tasty!

Air-Fried Asian Wonton Purses
Equipment
- Air-fryer
Ingredients
- 1 Bacon strip
- 2/3 cup Shredded cabbage
- 1/4 cup Finely shredded carrot
- 1/2 tsp Minced fresh gingerroot
- 1 Clove garlic, minced
- Soy sauce to taste
- 1 tbsp Scallion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 tsp Sam Olek
- 10 Wonton wrappers
Instructions
- Cook bacon until browned and crisp. Set aside on a paper towel. Save rendered bacon drippings.
- Sauté cabbage, carrot, and ginger in rendered bacon fat until soft – approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for an additional minute, or until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce and cook for another minute.
- Add scallion and Sam Olek – mix well and set aside.
- Set out a paper towel and a small bowl of water. While you work, keep the wrappers covered with a damp paper towel to keep them from drying out. Work with one Wonton wrapper at a time. Spoon a teaspoonful of filling into the center of the wonton wrapper. Dip your finger into the bowl of water and slightly dampen the edges of the wrapper. Pull opposite corners of the wrapper together over the filling, and pinch the edges together. Pull the last two opposing corners up to create a purse, pinching the edges together.
- Spray the basket of an air fryer with cooking spray. Place purses into the basket as they are made. Once all 10 purses are completed, spray the tops with more cooking spray.
- Position the basket in the air-fryer and set the temperature control to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and set the timer for 6 minutes.
- Turn wontons out onto a paper towel-lined plate. Enjoy with heated peach-Habanero jelly or sweet-n-sour sauce.

Yarn Easter Egg Cozy (Free Crochet Easter Pattern)
Nothing quite says Easter like pastel colored eggs, bunnies, spring itself, and of course, the real reason, Christ’s sacrifice on the cross to save mankind. While I take Easter seriously for what it truly means, I enjoy the festivities and other icons associated with Easter, too. When I realized it had been some time since…

Writing is an expression of one’s self.
Writing is an expression of one’s self. Writing a story, in this case, fiction, is limited only by one’s imagination. I find it relaxing, putting pen to paper, or more accurately, fingers to the keyboard and letting my mind form characters, names, places, and events. But it’s more than an act of journaling – a…
