Seascape Yarn Wall Hanging

This fun craft is simple to create and one where you can use any color combination. Worked in blue tones, as pictured, you’ll feel you’re at the beach soaking up the sun.  It’s the perfect summertime craft!

To begin:

Start by working with the lightest color (white, Aran, or cream) and wrap around the hoop at an angle (using the photo), for the desired width.

Glue the beginning end of your yarn to the back of the hoop, to hide the end and hold it securely in place. When the desired width is reached, glue the end tail to the back.

Continue Wrapping:

Continue wrapping yarn, going from light to dark colors as you wrap.  The widths of each color can be the same or increase in width from light to dark, or from dark to light.  Create a wall hanging that’s truly your own.

Adding Tassels:

Once the yarn is wrapped, it’s time to add the tassels. Using the top of the hoop as a guide, start with the center tassel, cutting several to the desired length for the longest tassel.

Fold the yarn grouping in half and pull the tails through the fold and over the hoop; cinch down and trim ends. Continue to add tassels to each side, going with the next color (light to dark or dark to light), making each set of tassels shorter than the center tassel.

Decorating:

Now it’s time to decorate your wall hanging. I chose two simple seashells and glued them to opposite corners of the angled yarn groupings. More seashells or different types of shells could be added if desired. Again, make it your design and see where your imagination leads!
